It's a good thing they didn't do anything really embarrassing like rename the whole company after it.

I suspect the greater intent was a sort of morality car wash for their branding.
The new name is general enough they're not tied to any specific business model despite the etymology of the rename.

That would be really useful if they had more than one business model but they don't and probably aren't going to.

For real though, Meta flushing all that money down the drain is keeping VR as a whole hanging on by a thread. I'm not sure whether it survives if they pull back to focus on Google Glass 2 or whatever.

VR as envisioned by an ill-intented corporation like Meta isn't something that deserves to succeed. The sooner the Metaverse dies, the better.

Well, even htc had let go this dream i guess long ago. Now new device from steam maybe help to do this with games
so can, "colossal" and "stupendous"
