Ask HN: Why is cursor / Claude Code is so bad at generating readmes?

My guess would be that it’s because it has the code, not the reasons why the code exists or how it might fit into the bigger picture.

Is it because you know what you care about in the repo and it doesn’t?

What do you find to be the issue with them? They are a bit unnaturally written, but seem to be servicable?
