Hi HN, Light Cloud is a hosting platform where the unit of organisation is a folder. A folder holds everything project needs: frontend, API, database, env variables, preview per branch.

The site claims they have an editor "ICE" as open-source software. But that is a lie: it is not open source, but shareware or such.

They also accept contributions released only under the no-commercial-use-allowed license, so any dual licensing under a commercial-use-allowed license would be out of the window once a contribution gets merged.

Not sure what their business model is if they forbid commercial use. I guess selling commercial use licenses in violation of the no-commercial-use-allowed license?

The latest commit in the repo is the license change. Go back one commit and you get the Apache licensed version. https://github.com/light-cloud-com/ice/tree/cbf1355bd1a14206...

I'll be honest with you, I wan't sure what to do with ICE licence, PolyForm Noncommercial felt reasonable, I'll make the wording clearer. Do you think I should go MIT?

It took me minutes to find what it actually cost, which is $50/month for the cheapest, 256MB deployment.

Looks cool, but this info should be easier to get to. Tell us what resources we get in a "nano", "micro", etc. and how much they cost. That's the first and usually only thing I look at with these.

Thanks, this is very useful information. I'll improve pricing information ASAP also I'm working on driving container costs down. It will take some work but I'm sure I can drop the cost by ~50%+ when I'm done.

I was being sarcastic, using Claude-speak. I really don't like this color scheme, which is all around vibe coded sites nowadays. Honestly this is on the better side though, but still a bit low contrast, a bit too narrow font strokes, which strain my eyes, but better than standard Anthropic slop.

I didn't try the product, I have a similar solution of mine in the drawer for the single framework I needed this, from the olden hand-coding days. This is a good feature, good luck for your product.

ps: I'm also not very good in web frontend (also very conservative with regards to modern web practices), so I also defer to LLMs these days, I'm not judging on that, just commenting on the style.
